Men Who Brunch

Emperor Christopher invites all people who identify as male to a brunch. Our guest speaker will be Todd Ross, a  Métis Two-Spirit man kicked out of the navy at the age of 20 just  for being a homosexual. Todd is now leading a  major class action for all LGBT+ persons kicked out of armed forces and the Federal civil service as part of the LGBT purge. Musical entertainment  will be provided by  a gay man whose sweet sounds have dazzled us at past Pride events, our own Momo MacLeod.

Fire Song Screening

This acclaimed film set in Northern Ontario tells the story of a young, 2-Spirit man. Following the film, an all Two-Spirit panel will discuss the film led by NOPN President Rita Olink.

Prom Fight 

10:00 AM

Marc Hall, who won the right to take his same-sex date to his Catholic school prom, will discuss his case and the evolution of LGBTQ2SI for youth. Local lawyer and ELSS alumnus Douglas Elliott, who was involved in Mark's case, will also join the discussion.

This event is limited to students of ELSS and guests approved by the ELSS administration.

A wonderful and hilarious comedy show, starring four-time Elliot Lake Pride performer, Miss Conception! Come and watch her dance and sing her way through a night of fun and hilarity in her all new show "The Immaculate Miss Conception!" Hosted by Michelle DuBarry, Guinness World Record Holder of World's Oldest Performing Drag Queen! And featuring drummers from Serpent River First Nation, and a performance by the Studio Dance Arts Dancers!.

The Amazons have been a highlight of every Elliot Lake Pride, and Janice will share the fascinating history of this all female motorcycle club. Church Service

The Holy Trinity United Church welcomes us for the 5th year in a row as an important part of our festivities. We are honoured to feature our special guest preacher, Rev. Dr. Brent Hawkes, CM. Rev. Hawkes performed the first same-sex marriage in Canada, and was the first openly gay man to be awarded the Order of Canada.

We will also have a smudging ceremony, aboriginal drummers and a special guest Momo MacLeod.

We encourage everyone to bring a donation of non-perishable goods to benefit the Elliot Lake Food Bank.

Pride Parade

Elliot Lake hosts its first Pride Parade ever as part of the Northern Ontario Pride Festival!

The parade will begin and end at Lester B. Pearson Civic Centre. The parade will follow the same route through downtown Elliot Lake as the Santa Claus Parade. Candy, Pride beads, and other goodies will be distributed along the parade route!

Community Festival

An afternoon of entertainment and education, and an outdoor barbeque. Community partners will be offering information about their services and vendors will be offering rainbow-themed items. Afternoon discussions will include panels on senior's issues, 2-Spirit people, and EGALE's efforts to obtain redress for the historic injustices done to the LGTQ2SI communities.

North Shore Anti-Bullying Coalition

The North shore Anti-Bullying Coalition will be holding their anti-bullying march from the United Church to the Miners' Memorial. The event is organized by the Coalition, not ELPC, but we are supporting it and participating in it.

Festival of Authors

We are delighted to present three distinguished authors as part of our festival. Michael Coren will read from his highly successful book, Epiphany,  recounting his journey from opponent to pro-ponent of same-sex marriage. Ma-Nee Chacaby will discuss her powerful autobiography about coming to terms with being a 2-Spirit woman.
